This story is one in a series that follows the progression of my latest PCS. In an effort to show the complexity, frustrations and joys of PCS’ing, I’m baring all in this series to help other military spouses (even if it’s just one!) take on their next PCS with confidence. This is the thirty-first installment of an ongoing saga — to get caught up, click here.

At this point, the days are ticking down, slowly but surely. But even though the days can seem long, there’s still plenty of important tasks to take care of before it’s time to pack out and then head out!

Military Spouse List

__Notify utilities and home services of desired disconnect date.
a. Electricity
b. Gas
c. Water
d. Trash
e. Internet
f. Cable
g. Newspaper or other subscription services

__Learn your bank’s procedures for transferring your funds or closing your account if you bank locally.

__Keep an eye out for signs of PCS stress in your family. Do your best to maintain a “normal” routine, whatever that looks like for your family. If family members are starting to show tension, stop to talk about it now instead of letting it fester. Communication is critical at this stage to help reduce PCS stress on the whole family.

__Do another sweep of your house. Is there anything else you can get rid of or throw away?

This list was short and sweet, but it covers the main items you need to concern yourself with at this phase of your PCS. More checklists coming soon, so stay tuned!
